Pacific Sun History Providing Senior Support Services for 40 Years
Pacific Sun Enterprises is a family owned business which has been serving the Okanagan Valley for over 40 years. The Kornell family has three generations committed to excellence in senior housing. Still Waters Private Hospital was first opened in 1962 by Adele Kornell. Driven by a passion for caring for seniors and their health concerns, Still Waters was the first of its kind in the Okanagan area. David and Tim Kornell, Adele’s sons, joined the company in the 1970’s and built the Joseph Benjamin Residence which served seniors needing less care.
In the late 80’s, David and Tim saw the need for a residential setting that would provide seniors with an active, elegant lifestyle while providing the attributes security, meals, housekeeping and socialization. Again, taking the lead in knowing the needs of the community, the Kornell’s opened Lakeshore Place in 1988, being the first to introduce this concept of retirement living to the Okanagan Valley.
Continuing in their desire to provide the latest and most up-to-date philosophy of care, the Kornell’s built Westside Care Centre in 1992, specializing in the most progressive knowledge of residents with Alzheimer’s. This was followed by the opening of Sun Pointe Village in 2000 with its award winning design, acknowledge by the Health Region as a premier leader in health care for seniors British Columbia.
The third generation of the family have now joined the company, continuing with the heritage of compassion, caring and commitment to excellence started over 40 years ago. The Kornell’s have also partnered with Regency Retirement Resorts to build the latest in retirement living, operating Sandalwood Retirement Resort, Missionwood Retirement Resort and Westwood Retirement Resort.
Providing retirement housing that enhances lifestyle choices in every aspect of seniors housing and serving the community has been the focus and commitment of the Kornell family. Employing and nurturing staff by providing a loving, harmonious workplace has been key to the success of the company. Pacific Sun Enterprises was just recently awarded the prestigious Business Excellence Award for an organization with 40 + in Kelowna.
All three generations have lived out the mission statement of Enhanced Living Every Day, for their residents, resident’s families and staff. Pacific Sun’s vision is to be a leader in providing innovative living and supportive service in a residential environment to seniors, a vision they are committed to living out each day.
